Wedding Cake

Tonight I was sick and so I heated up a Super Supper dinner that my mom gave me. Since I didn't really cook tonight, I thought I'd share our wedding cake!

Chris and I recently celebrated our first anniversary. We spent the weekend in San Antonio visiting my parents and enjoying a small get away on the Riverwalk. I was interested to see how our wedding cake was going to taste. My mom had been storing it for the whole year in their freezer. In May, the freezer accidentially got left open for several days and the cake defrosted. My mom was mortified because she thought she'd ruined our cake. I told her it was fine and to just refreeze it. So I wasn't expecting much when we opened up the container on our anniversary. I got a HUGE surprise though...

Here is a photo of what our cake looked like on our wedding day:

And here is what it looked like when we unwrapped it:

My mom (bless her heart!) - in her drunken stooper at the end of the wedding - left the orchids on the top of the cake when she wrapped it up!!!!

Lesson learned: wait until the next morning when you're sober to wrap up the cake!!!

The cake would have probably tasted fine had the flowers not been on there, but with the flowers...it was downright disgusting. We had a small bite each and threw out the rest. :( I think if we could have done it again, I would have eaten the cake at our one month anniversary or even the day after the wedding. But at least now we have a funny story to go along with our cake...

hey, katy! it's terri from the knot. i just saw a link to your blog from daria's, and i thought that was hilarious about your cake (although sad you didn't get to enjoy more than a couple bites). my cake is in the freezer, and i'm tempted to eat it every day. we don't have any flowers on top though.
